Caregiver Workshop: Navigating Divorce
Recorded: November 18, 2021
This workshop for parents, caregivers, and professionals will focus on some of the common symptoms, diagnoses, and struggles children and teens deal with as a result of their parents’ divorce and how parents can help to support their children through this transition while also adjusting themselves. The workshop will be led by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Alison Blum and Alexandra Pattison.
Challenging and Defiant Behaviors: ODD and Conduct Disorder

This workshop for parents, caregivers, and professionals provides information on symptoms, interventions, and self-care for caregivers for this challenging diagnosis. The workshop will be led by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists.
Unhealthy Eating Habits and Eating Disorders in Children and Teens

The 90-minute session is geared towards parents of children and teens who may be dealing with unhealthy eating habits and eating disorders. We will focus on defining eating disorders, treatments, and interventions as well as provide resources for support and treatments. The workshop includes presentations by Alison Blum, Alexandra Pattison and Dr. Umadevi Nuthi.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

This free workshop is aimed at parents and professionals interested in learning more about an evidence-based approach for children ages 2-8 with behavioral concerns. Hosted by Jen Moran, Director of IBHS Services at Lenape Valley Foundation, the session provideS information on what Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is, who it is for and how it works. PCIT is an intervention that focuses on improving the relationship between caregiver and child whilst increasing the child’s positive behavior. Lenape Valley Foundation plans to begin offering this therapy in the coming year.
Transition to Adulthood: Navigating Services for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities

This free workshop is helpful for parents and caregivers of teens and young adults who are diagnosed with Intellectual Disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorder. We focus on addressing issues that affect individuals ages 14 to 21 by discussing how to prepare for life after graduation including developing job skills, independent living skills, and volunteering. Funding options and eligibility requirements, and services that are available are be discussed. This workshop is hosted by Sara Gabbianelli, LVF’s Director of ID Services, and Evan Salom, LVF’s Assistant Director of ID Services
Infant and Toddler Development, Support for Parents

Michelle Taylor, Director of Early Intervention Services at Lenape Valley Foundation, reviewS infant and toddler developmental milestones and who to call if you have a concern. An overview of early intervention services, including evaluations, eligibility and the coaching model, is provided.
Helping a Struggling Loved One: Accessing Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in Bucks County

Do you feel that something is just “not right” with your loved one? Maybe they have depression or anxiety, they could be saying very strange things, or be using drugs, but you don’t know where to start. This one-hour session offers insight on how to assist in identifying when mental illness or substance use may be present and how to access treatment and other supports. The workshop was hosted by Nicole Wolf, M. Ed, Director of Training and Education at Lenape Valley Foundation, and Ana Rosado, LSW, CAADC, Clinical Director at Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc.

SELF-CARE FOR THE CARETAKER

STRUGGLE TO FOCUS & ADHD

This workshop provided information on ADHD diagnosis and treatment, as well as how this ADHD affects performance in school and at home. It will also look at the challenges of virtual school with this diagnosis.
DEPRESSION & SELF-HARM

This workshop provided information on defining self-harming behaviors, what causes them, and how to reduce them as well as how mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and trauma play a role in the perpetuation of the self harming behaviors.
CHILDREN, TEENS & ANXIETY
RECORDED: September 24, 2020
This workshop aims to educate parents & caregivers about the causes of anxiety, treatment for anxiety, and how it affects the family system. This workshop also addressed anxiety surrounding COVID-19, social distancing, and the school year. The session was by led by Alison Blum, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families. Additional presenters included therapist Alexandra Pattison and child psychiatrist Dr. Umadevi Nuthi.
