Acute Partial Hospital

 

Acute Partial Hospital Program

In the Acute Partial Hospital Program (PHP), you will have the opportunity to work with adults suffering from acute episodes of behavioral health issues. The Acute Partial Hospital Program is a comprehensive, short-term outpatient program that provides support and treatment for adults facing emotional or mental difficulties, and who may have substance abuse issues. The structured format provides individual therapy, group therapy, stress management techniques, and medication consultation.

Eligibility to Apply:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in psychology or counseling.
  • Must be able to work two days per week for at least 15 hours.
  • Assignment/placement should be at least two semesters, a full calendar year is preferred.
  • Individual/Team/group supervision is provided.
  • Students are accepted in the Fall and Winter for the following academic year and in the Spring for Summer placement.
  • The program accepts both clinical and assessment practicum students.

 

Assertive Community Treatment – ACT 

Assertive Community Treatment is a mobile service providing comprehensive community-based treatment for persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses. The ACT Team is comprised of highly skilled professionals in the disciplines of psychiatry, social work, nursing, substance abuse counseling, case management, supported employment, peer support, and counseling psychology.   Team members partner with consumers in their homes, on the job, and in community settings to promote meeting individual recovery goals and community integration.

Eligibility to Apply:

  • Must currently be enrolled in a master’s program in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy. Bachelor’s level candidates will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Must be able to work minimum 20 hours per week on site.
  • Duration of assignment is at least two semesters.

 

The Lodge – Crisis Residential

Crisis Residential provides a safe supportive atmosphere for adults experiencing a crisis in a home like setting located on our Lower Bucks campus next to Lower Bucks Hospital.  This program provides 24 hour a day programming in an unlocked facility that includes stabilization, groups, medication management, family involvement, and the opportunity for healing.

Eligibility to Apply:

  • Must currently be enrolled in a master’s program in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Must be able to work two days per week for at least 15 hours.
  • Duration of assignment is at least two semesters.

 

Intensive Behavioral Health Services – IBHS 

IBHS are mobile services designed to provide a broad network of support for families of children age 3 to 21, who struggle with mental and behavioral health challenges.  The IBHS team consists of clinicians who provide service in the home, office, schools, and the community.  The goal of IBHS is to develop positive behavior management strategies, increase coping skills, stabilize family functioning, and help each client achieve success. 

Eligibility to Apply:

  • Must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Must be able to work minimum 15 hours per week on site.
  • Duration of assignment is at least two semesters.

 

Outpatient Department

In the Outpatient Department, you will have an opportunity to gain a broad range of experience, working with children, adolescents, and adults, offering individual, family, and group therapy for clients with a variety of diagnoses and presenting problems.

Eligibility to Apply:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Must have completed most coursework before beginning internship, particularly, all techniques classes and ethics must be completed.
  • Must be able to work 15 hours per week on site.
  • Duration of assignment is at least 12 months or 3 semesters.
