Employee Spotlight: Jamie Spicer, Crisis Coorindator

What do you like most about working at LVF?
As one of the base service units in Bucks County, Lenape Valley has a long standing history of providing excellent, compassionate, and person focused care to individuals with mental health, substance use, and/or intellectual disabilities. I am grateful to be a part of a well-established non-profit agency such as this.
What have you learned recently at LVF that has better equipped you in your position?
The QPR training and Suicide Prevention Conferences have helped me expand my knowledge and awareness when it comes to my role. I learn from my colleagues and my staff, taking information from their experiences and expertise to acquire new skills & knowledge myself.
What’s a “day in the life” like for you at LVF?
I work in crisis so it is ever changing, but overall I provide support to staff who are doing direct care work with clients in crisis, who present to site based for various reasons attributed to mental health struggles. My role includes managing the behind-the-scenes details of the program so I handle that daily while continuing to try to learn new things every day.
What’s the best advice you can give someone who just started their career at LVF?
Be a sponge and absorb all of the information, training opportunities, and expertise from your colleagues. Be transparent and honest with your supervisor so that you can have the best opportunity to learn, grow & develop. You don’t know what you don’t know, until you do! (And that’s okay)!
What is your favorite hobby or pastime activity outside of work?
Right now, mom life is my main hobby, spending my time out of work with my husband, son, and daughter. I am involved with my daughter’s Girl Scouts troop and go to her gymnastics weekly, and I love seeing her excitement to learn and figure out new skills. My family likes going to the Poconos for weekend trips or getaways. Anything in nature or with my family is my favorite pastime!
