Employee Spotlight: Sarah Schneider, Assistant Director of Outpatient Services

What do you like most about working at LVF?
My favorite part of working at LVF is how much people are valued for the unique strengths they bring to the team. When someone has a particular talent or passion, it’s noticed, encouraged, and often nurtured through opportunities for growth. There is a genuine appreciation for what each person contributes, and it feels good to be part of a team that is so supportive, caring, and committed to serving our community.

How has your career grown since working at LVF? Tell us your LVF story, including previous positions you’ve held!
I started at LVF as a full-time Outpatient Clinician and have had the opportunity to wear quite a few hats over the years. Along the way, I have facilitated clinical supervision groups, provided clinical supervision to interns and staff, helped support the intake department, coordinated our outpatient internship program, and eventually stepped into my current role as Assistant Director of Outpatient Services. It’s been a fun and rewarding journey, and I continue to learn something new every day.

What have you learned recently at LVF that has better equipped you in your position?
Next year marks 10 years with LVF, and during that time I’ve completed extensive training in trauma treatment. Most recently, I’ve pursued certifications in yoga and body-oriented therapies, which led to the opportunity to offer a clinical yoga group for outpatient clients. Creating a space where people can build self-compassion, resilience, and a deeper connection with themselves has been incredibly meaningful. This work has transformed the way I support people healing from trauma, chronic stress, and other challenges that can affect their sense of safety and well-being, and I’m so grateful to be able to bring it to our community.

What’s a “day in the life” like for you at LVF?
There’s definitely no such thing as a typical day in this role! One moment I might be reviewing records and workflows to support compliance efforts, and the next I could be answering clinical questions, creating training materials, offering supervision, or facilitating therapy sessions. The variety keeps things interesting— and while I usually start the day with a thoughtfully triaged plan, it often flies right out the window by lunchtime!

What is your favorite hobby or pastime activity outside of work?
I have a reputation for waking at irrationally early hours to enjoy predawn walks under the stars with my canine companion, Dora. Spending quiet time in nature and with animals is one of my favorite ways to recharge. What better way to start the day than with a good friend, fresh air, and, if you’re lucky, a shooting star?
